Winding up of IBSFC
This is to inform that after the notification of the withdrawal of EU15, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania from the "Convention on Fishing and Conservation of the Living Resources in the Baltic Sea and the Belts" (Gdańsk Convention): - IBSFC as an organisation ceased to function from 1 January 2006 but will still legally exist in 2006 with two Contracting Parties (Poland and Russian Federation) - The IBSFC Secretariat will be closed 31 January 2006.
IBSFC was established in 1974 on the basis of the Convention signed on 13 September 1973. It has been responsible for the conservation and rational exploitation of the living resources in the Convention area over more than 30 years.
The IBSFC Secretary and his staff take this opportunity to thank all those who have been co-operating with IBSFC.
IBSFC matters after the closure of the IBSFC Secretariat on 31 January 2006
According to the decision of the 31st Session, Visby, 5 - 7 September 2005 the IBSFC Secretariat will be closed on 31 January 2006.
Thereafter all remaining IBSFC matters will be the sole responsibility of the two� Contracting Parties of the Gdańsk Convention, still existing in 2006: - Poland (the Depositary of the Convention) - Russian Federation and the Chairman of IBSFC: - Mr. Victor M. Osadtchy who was elected in 2002 for a term of 4 years and will hold this post in 2006. His address: Fisheries Committee of Kaliningrad Fisheries Administration 1, Dm.
